Greppicaia

An Unforgettable Encounter

Greppicaia, a wine of gravitas and allure, born from the terroir of the Italian coast, where French grape varietals flourish to create a serious and captivating SuperTuscan masterpiece.

ASSEMBLAGGIO:

Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon

TASTING NOTES:

Greppicaia weaves a tapestry of indulgence with notes of incense, dark berries, and hints of black tea. This is a full-bodied wine that harmoniously integrates its fruit flavors in the mid-palate, supported by a luscious, subtly chewy tannin structure. The 2015 Greppicaia earned an impressive 94 points from James Suckling, a testament to its exceptional character.

AGING PROCESS:

Matured with care, Greppicaia spends 18 months in French oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 6 months in bottles. To maintain the ideal tannin levels, half of the oak barrels used for aging are renewed annually.

WINE PROFILE:

Greppicaia is a wine that showcases the best grapes cultivated in our three distinct parcels, expertly orchestrated to create a robust, full-bodied symphony of flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon takes the lead, enriched annually with varying proportions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, resulting in a wine destined for aging and greatness.

VINIFICATION:

The process begins with alcoholic fermentation and skin maceration in stainless steel vats, lasting approximately 30 days at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Subsequently, the wine is passed to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, where the wine's character deepens and matures.
