Advancing wine with UC Davis

During this year’s harvest we will be welcoming our first intern to the I Greppi vineyard.  We are delighted that the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), Department of Viticulture and Enology is giving us an opportunity to work with their students.  The Department of Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis is world renowned and has been at the forefront of advancing the science of grape growing and winemaking in the wine regions of California and around the world. Many of its graduates have gone on to be leading authorities in the world of wine, and hopefully this Italian connection will continue this trend.

I Greppi is committed to advancing the quality and understanding of wine produced in Bolgheri DOC, following the scientific direction and experience of our owners.  Collaborating with one of the top universities in viticulture and enology, with a very research driven approach, will help us to achieve this goal.  Our internship program will allow graduate students and undergraduates in their final year to work within the I Greppi estate, developing new skills in a different cultural environment, and also expanding their knowledge gained at UC Davis.

We hope to have a long and very fruitful relationship with UC Davis, including many more interns visiting the vineyard over the years, and we are discussing, with the department, opportunities to participate in new and innovative viticulture research.
